A miraculous city of artists, Plovdiv is one of the oldest cities in all of Europe. For many years, it has been the center of attraction for thousands of travelers. The city, indeed, has much to offer to its guests – unique historical landmarks, ultra-modern entertainment complexes, magnificent nature, and the inimitable national heritage of the area. Plovdiv has an incredibly large number of historical landmarks – there are more than 200 sites that have the status of landmarks of the national importance. Due to the diverse opprotunities for tourism, the city has been listed in a number of prestigious ranks, among which European Best Destinations 2016.

FOOD - The cheapest fast food can be between 1.8-3.6 BGN (2 EUR) along the main street. There are plenty of places offering pizza, traditional food, and kebabs. Fairly affordable, low-end restaurants will cost between 10-18 BGN (5-9 EUR) for a full meal (salad, main course, dessert, drink).
TRANSPORT - The city center of Plovdiv is pretty walkable, but there’s also good coverage for taxis and buses. Public bus tickets cost around 1-2 BGN (1 EUR). An average taxi ride within the city costs around 3.6 BGN (2 EUR). We recommend using the app - TaxiMe (www.taxime.to)
International Plovdiv Airport is located 15 km away from the city center (about 20 min by car). The airport is served by the low-cost flight company Ryanair. Check the Airlines providing flights here:
Plovdiv International Airport is easily accessible by the following means of transport:
By car – The trip is about 20-minutes-long. At the airport there is a paid parking area.
By taxi – The price of going to the airport by taxi will be around 15 – 20 BGN (7.50 – 10 EUR)
By public shared shuttle – Plovdiv Airport is served by shuttle line №2.
Plovdiv has 3 bus stations - "Yug", "Sever", and "Rhodopi". There are many buses for cities all around Bulgaria and to some that are outside the country. Buses to destinations near Plovdiv run from "Rhodopi" station. Both "Yug" and "Rhodopi" stations are within five minutes walking distance from the main train station of Plovdiv.
Buses run hourly from Sofia to Plovdiv Yug, and are slightly faster than the trains. (aprox. 14 BGN - 7 EUR)
