Sofia – Plovdiv by BUS:

  • Going from Sofia Airport to the Central Bus Station by Metro.
  1.     Sofia Airport Metro Station is located in the eastern part of Terminal 2. If you arrive at Terminal 1, there is a free shuttle transportation to Terminal 2. Shuttle bus stops are located in front of the terminal buildings. More details available here:
  2.     Take the Metro line 1 from Sofia Airport Station to Serdika Station. Then change lines. Take line 2 for two stops from Serdika to The Central Railway Station.
  3.     The Bus Station is located just next to the Railway Station. Buses to Plovdiv depart every hour up until 8 PM. Bus schedule available here:

  • Going from Sofia Airport to the Central Bus Station by Taxi:
  1.     There are taxi stands in front of the arrival section of each terminal. We highly recommend that you take a cap only from the designated taxi stands and politely ignore any individual offers for a drive on your way out. Info about taxi tariffs in Sofia available here:
  2.     At the Bus Station, buses to Plovdiv depart every hour up until 8 PM. Take a look at bus schedule:

FOOD - The cheapest fast food can be between 1.8-3.6 BGN (2 EUR) along the main street. There are plenty of places offering pizza, traditional food, and kebabs. Fairly affordable, low-end restaurants will cost between 10-18 BGN (5-9 EUR) for a full meal (salad, main course, dessert, drink).

TRANSPORT - The city center of Plovdiv is pretty walkable, but there’s also good coverage for taxis and buses. Public bus tickets cost around 1-2 BGN (1 EUR). An average taxi ride within the city costs around 3.6 BGN (2 EUR). We recommend using the app - TaxiMe (
